TOM BARLOW CUP 2010
THE FINAL - LEX XI v EIRIAS HIGH SCHOOL
Tuesday 27th July @ The Oval, Llandudno
Eirias 139-9; Lex XI 120 all out (approx scores, awaiting confirmation)
Eirias High School retain the Tom Barlow Cup won by a bowl-out in 2009 with a thrilling victory over Lex XI at the Oval, Llandudno. Lex looked to be heading for victory needing 26 runs from 24 balls before a Joe Chaplin hat-trick turned the match Eirias' way. Congratulations!
Eirias HS completed a League and Cup double with a 19 run victory over Lex XI in the Tom Barlow Cup, retaining the trophy they won last season.
Batting first Zak Gidlow opened the Eirias innings and reached his 50 with some exquisite shots. Once Gidlow retired the Lex bowlers took wickets at regular intervals with Ajay Dahlwarn finishing with 5-32. Lex lost their 10th wicket in the last over, allowing Gidlow to return to the crease and add a further 12 runs to his score leaving him undefeated on 62 and helping his side to a competitive total of 139.
The Lex reply started steadily, however when star batsmen Jordan Kane was caught behind for 9 further wickets fell and it took a fine 32 from Lewis Jones to steady the innings. Lex were always behind the required, mainly rate due to some fine bowling and fielding by Eirias. They were eventually bowled out for 120 with Joe Chaplin finishing with superb figures of 7-31 including a hat trick!! An exciting game between two good young sides played in a great spirit – well done to both sides.
Cup final action!
