COLWYN BAY & DISTRICT CRICKET LEAGUE
(Founded 1965)
WEEK 5: Tuesday 29th - Thursday 31st May 2007
Week 5 saw Caerhun moved 6 points clear at the top of Division 3 of the Gilbert Emery Evening Cricket League thanks to an emphatic 90 run victory over Bodelwyddan-Tŷ Fry. Rich Totton (54) and Tom Roberts (49) scoring the runs as Caerhun aim to bounce back into Division 2 at the first attempt.
Mochdre CC began their match with Bryn Y Neuadd a point behind at the top of Division 2 but a 59 run win over their nearest rivals sees Mochdre now top the Division by 4 points after 4 games. Batting first. Will Evans' unbeaten 54 guiding Mochdre to a total of 123 but good bowling by Joe Carribine (3-18) and N. Hales (3-29) helped bowl out the home team. Stuart Jones then took 3-15 as Bryn Y Neuadd were bowled out for only 64 runs, 60 short of their target.
Rydal Penrhos ominously moved into second place in Division 1 with a comprehensive 89 run victory over Abergele CC. Huw G. Roberts (35n.o), alongside father and son Patrick (49) and Mike Leach (25n.o), thumped the home side to a total of 153-3 before Abergele were skittled for only 64 runs. Wonderful bowling by Ed Williams-Grey (3wickets-0runs) and Andy Scattergood (3-24), who narrowly failed a hat-trick, ensured a 5 points to nil win.
