The following eight teams have confirmed their entry: Lex, Pen Y Bryn, Conwy Celts, Conwy Colts, Mochdre CC, Rhos Fynach Taverners, Bodelwyddan-Ty Fry and Llandrillo College.

Group A: Ysgol Pen Y Bryn, Rhos Fynach Taverners, Conwy Celts, Conwy Colts.

Group B: Llandrillo College, Mochdre CC, Lex, Bodelwyddan-Ty Fry.

THANK YOU to all clubs who were represented at the League Presentation Evening held at Mochdre CC on Tuesday 7th August. A special thanks to all our sponsors, League Patron Ronnie Wade, Mochdre CC and our caterers for the wonderful food provided - well done the Camsell family!

YSGOL PEN Y BRYN CROWNED DIVISION 1 CHAMPIONS! For only the second time in their history Ysgol Pen Y Bryn claimed the Division 1 title. They went into their re-arranged game with Rydal Penrhos knowing that their opponents must win 5-0 to have any chance of claiming the title they last held in 2004. Ysgol Pen Y Bryn made sure they claimed the single point required against Rydal to secure the title before beating Abergele CC the next team to give them a 4 point margin at the top.

LLANDRILLO COLLEGE RELEGATED FROM DIVISION 1! Llandrillo College (13) lie bottom of the table after completing their games and have been unfortunate to lose 5 matches to the weather, therefore last season's runners-up will play their 2008 matches in Division 2.

MOCHDRE CC CROWNED DIVISION 2 CHAMPIONS! After two seasons as Division 2 runners-up Mochdre Cricket Club were finally celebrating promotion to the First Division as Champions thanks to an 8 wicket win over second placed Bryn Y Neuadd. Congratulations to Alun Evans and his team.

ROBERTSONS RELEGATED FROM DIVISION 2! Relegation has been decided thanks to the weather! Robertsons final match was postponed which now sees them return instantly  to the Third Division.

CAERHUN CROWNED DIVISION 3 CHAMPIONS! Caerhun (30) have bounced back into the Second Division at the first attempt despite losing 5 points for a rule infringement. Congratulations to Mike Duckett and his team for claiming the Division 3 title.

The League Tables are now complete. Check out the LEAGUE TABLES section to see.

Robertson Cup 07

Tuesday August 7th is the date set aside for the 2007 Robertson Cup final and takes place at Mochdre Cricket Club followed by League Presentations.

Robertson Cup Final: Mochdre CC v Llanrwst CC

Congratulations go to Mochdre CC for winning the Robertson Cup as unfortunate circumstances meant that Llanrwst CC were unable to fulfil the fixture. Our sympathies go to Adrian and Nathan Jones on their loss.

Tom Barlow Cup 07

Monday August 6th is the date set aside for the 2007 Tom Barlow Cup final at Mochdre Cricket Club.

Tom Barlow Cup Final: Lex XI v Caerhun

Congratulations go to Lex XI for winning the Tom Barlow Cup for the first time since 1989 after losing the last two finals.

Committee news

The June meeting of the Management Committee sat and two teams have been punished for blatantly breaking League Rules. Caerhun and St.David's College played their Week 12 fixture on Tuesday of this week (Week 9) but failed to have their re-arrangement approved at the May meeting and took it upon themselves to play the game early without the consent of the Committee leaving both clubs in breach of Rule 14. The Committee frowned upon this and decided to utilise Rule 13e-the match was declared a 0-0 draw with both teams deducted 5 points for their breach of the rules. (Subject to appeal) At the meeting the facts heard were that the teams played in week 9 (not 12); neither Secretary had contacted the League Secretary prior to the match; neither team had requested the switch at a Committee Meeting. One phone call/e-mail could EASILY have avoided this whole situation. Many fixtures have been re-arranged in the past, including this season, but on every occasion the teams involved have had the courtesy to inform the Committee and Secretary prior to the match being played. The punishment may seem harsh to some but our League is very well established and the rules are there for a reason. If anybody believes they could do a better job please do not hesitate to contact the League Secretary. The League Secretary has now had a response from both teams involved as neither were represented at the June meeting and the Committee made their decision based on the above facts. An explanation and appeal is expected at the July meeting where it is hoped BOTH TEAMS can give their verdict of events to clarify the whole situation. Let us not forget that we are to play cricket but at the same time should always abide by League Rules and Cricket Laws.

Alas, it now seems that St David's College have found it beyond them to accept the Committee's decision and instead of appealing against the verdict they have threatened to withdraw from the League and Cup immediately. Thank you to those people who sent views on this matter to the League Secretary. The matter was brought up and discussed further at the July meeting and the Committee decided that the June decision WOULD STAND WITHOUT AMENDMENT.

The fifth and final meeting of the Evening League for the 2007 Season took place at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club on Friday 27th July 2007. Our next meeting is the LEAGUE AGM on Friday 19th October 2007 at 7pm. All teams are expected to send a representative. If you wish to apply to join our League, amend rules, put forward suggestions etc then please contact the LEAGUE SECRETARY no later than SEPTEMBER 30th.

Following on the League AGM the Committee would like to thank Dyfrig Thomas for his two year tenure as President. His role has now come to an end and he was duly elected as a Vice-President. Mr John Roberts was elected as the new League President for 2007 and 2008.

Why not read about our League in the local press? The Pioneer and North Wales Weekly News aim to feature our League in their Sports Pages once again this summer.

League Teams for 2007

Two new teams have joined our Evening League for the 2007 season The Penrhyn Arms, Penrhynside, and St. David's College, Llandudno, come into Division 3. Good luck to both!!

Unfortunately, we also lost two teams from the League prior to the new season. Colwyn Bay Police, the League's most successful non-cricket club, had to withdraw over the winter due to a struggle to field a team in 2006 due to shift work. A greater shock was the late withdrawal from the League of reigning Division 1 Champions  and Robertson Cup Winners Llandudno Cricket Club a week prior to the 2007 season. This was a big blow to the League so late in the day.  As a result our set up for 2007 is as follows:

Division 1: 6 Teams

Llandrillo College; Rydal Penrhos; Rhos Fynach Taverners; Abergele CC; Ysgol Pen Y Bryn; Llanrwst CC.

Division 2: 6 Teams

Bryn Y Neuadd; Mochdre CC; Mochdre Colts; Lex XI Colwyn Bay Rugby Club; Robertsons.

Division 3: 6 Teams

Caerhun;  Conwy Celts; Conwy Colts; Bodelwyddan-Tŷ Fry; St.David's College; Penrhyn Arms.

There are now 18 teams split into 3 divisions in the Gilbert Emery League for the 2007 season.
